Constant section retaining ring for shaft

Product Description

Description:

Shaft constant section retaining ring feature a uniform, constant section. This means that the material used to make the ring is the same width at any point along the circumference of the ring. These cost less than tapered and spiral retaining rings and provide only three point contact with the groove.

Ring designs include helical, tapered, and constant section. Spiral rings do not have lugs or lugs that interfere within the assembly like standard stamp rings. Tapered section rings have compressible lugs that round them in the grooves, allowing them to grip tightly along the edges. Shaft constant section retaining rings are best for heavy-duty applications. They have a uniform, constant cross-section with no variation in width over the entire circumference. Special designs also exist, including those with very shallow grooves, for thin-walled parts of the assembly.

They help reduce costs by eliminating threading and other machining, and offer reduced weight and size.

Advantages of shaft constant section retaining ring

  1. No assembly/disassembly lugs = space saving in radial direction;
  2. Edges with radius, no stamping burrs;
  3. Square edge wire for sharp-edged installations;
  4. No special tooling for exotic materials;
  5. No special tooling for installing and removal necessary;
  6. Conform to DIN 471/472;
  7. Higher ring shear;
  8. Special ends for specific applications;
  9. Heavy duty sections for higher rotational capacities.

Shaft constant section retaining ring is a kind of retaining ring which is installed on the grooved shaft and is used for the axial movement of fixed parts. The inner diameter of this kind of retaining ring is slightly smaller than the diameter of the assembly shaft. When installing, it is necessary to use circlip pliers, insert the pliers nose into the pliers hole of the retaining ring, expand the retaining ring, and then put it on the pre-machined shaft groove. Conventional packaging is packaged in batches of oil paper or plastic, and the surface is generally blackened by phosphating, commonly known as a wild card. There are several aspects that need to be paid attention to in the production of shaft retaining rings; one is that the surface is flat; the other is that the hardness and elasticity are qualified; the third is that there should be no corner burrs.

The shaft constant section retaining ring has the following characteristics:

  1. The section is equal, the force is uniform, and the stress concentration phenomenon is reduced
  2. The inner and outer circles are smooth and complete, and do not interfere with the mating parts
  3. No burrs on the inner and outer diameters, easy to disassemble and assemble
  4. Almost no corner waste is produced in the production process, saving materials
  5. There is no need to make molds. By changing the thickness of the material, it can be easily made into light load, medium load and heavy load.
  6. The production cycle is short, and the optional materials are wide, spring steel, stainless steel, copper and other metal materials can be easily produced.

Application of shaft constant section retaining ring

The application of earless retaining ring is the same as that of traditional C-type retaining ring, which is widely used in hydraulic parts assembly, valves, instruments, various lock core components, needle roller bearings, pulleys, connectors, quick connectors and other mechanical assemblies.

shaft constant section retaining ring material

Earless retaining ring can be made of various materials, such as spring steel, stainless steel, copper and other metal materials can be easily produced, currently the commonly used spiral retaining ring materials on the market are carbon spring steel, alloy spring steel 65Mn, etc., stainless steel 304 (302 commonly used in the United States), 316, 17-7PH, beryllium bronze alloy and superalloy and other materials are used in some occasions.
